How to get rid of bats with Bat Repellent

Bats might be big problem to any household.  Bats are usually looking for a dark and warm place that might be available in your house.  Once bats find a proper place for them in the household, they tend to inhabit the house.  When you have found them in your own house, first thing you have to do is to look for the entry point, close it and the bats problem will be simply disappear.   Then you do not need any bat repellent anymore.

The first method and seems as the best bats repellent is bats proofing.   You need to make your own house as a bat-proof building.  It means, the first thing you have to do is to screen and then to seal all of opening, holes or other type entry point that used by the bats to enter your house. Please pay attention to chimneys, shake siding, cornices, louvers, soffits, eaves and vents.

When you start to seal all of entry points, you have to make sure that there is no any single bat left inside.  You will get more problems if there is a bat trapped inside your house. In order to make sure that there is no bat trapped, you need to check your indoor area which is suspected as bats base by closing every door and seal all of hole with temporary sealant (you can use paper or something else).  Check the indoor area at night.  Bats are active at night. You may see the bats easily because they will fly around the room inside.

• Take the best time to do bat proofing.  The best time are in late fall, in late winter and in early spring.
• Check your all of your house opening to find the entry point.  You may find several entry point buy there is must be one or two main entry point.
• Close or seal all of entry points but left it one of them.
• The remaining entry point is used for bat habituation or to adjust the bats to use only one entry point.  Wait and see for 4 days.  It is easy for you to check the bats’ in and out activities.
• When the bats have left your house for feeding (at night), totally close the remain entry point.  Remember, before you close it, make sure that there is no bat trapped indoor.
• If you are not sure that there is no bat remain, close the entry point using Bat Valves or Bat Cones.  It acts as bat screening that allowing bats to leave your house but not to return into your house.

Bats-proofing is the best technique.  But, the problem is, if the entry points are impossible to be closed due to your house structure design.  Or maybe bats find the place not in your indoor area, for example in your balcony, terrace or warehouse nearby your main house.  It is impossible to get rid of bats without applying one of some bat repellent techniques. Here are some tips to help you removing the bats from your property completely.

Naphthalene crystals

You can use naphthalene crystals as bats repellent.  Place it in voids or spread it on attic floor.  It will be effective to get rid of bats.  However, you have to be careful in naphthalene usage as bat repellent because it is believed that naphthalene is dangerous for human and your pets.  Furthermore, naphthalene crystals perform in short lasting, it needs only a few days to disappear (depend on size of the crystals).  Once the crystals is gone, the bat might be back to your house.

Bright Lights

So many reports the success stories about bright lights use as bats repellent.  All you need to do is point the bright lights to the entry points.  It is easier if the bat roost indoor; you just left the lights on than they will leave the room.

The Last but not least about Bat Repellent

Please pay attention for the cleaning.  You have to be careful when do any technique to repel the bats.  Please wear proper clothing and protective devise, especially when you have to clean the guano (bats droppings), after you physically remove the guano, wash the floor with soap and spray something to remove the guano odors.  Of course, you have to wash your hand after do the jobs.
